We’re constantly digging for new books to rescue and always strive to keep our inventory up to date, however, it’s a bit random what we find and when we find it.

We recommend you sign up for our newsletter to get notifications for when new stock becomes available! That way you can get first pick!

Who’s calling dibs?!

Each book we find is essentially one-of-a-kind and the method in which we find our books is somewhat random, therefore it’s quite difficult to predict when we will find a specific edition of a particular book you’re looking for.

We can, however, offer to make you a Custom Book Clock if you have something particular in mind!

Good question!

Simply put: Price is based on supply and demand.

Supply

It seems that people’s tendency is to discard books that aren’t their favorites..

For example, someone is more likely to hold onto a beautiful old edition of Pride And Prejudice by Jane Austen with lovely cover art making it much harder to come by than any of the thousands of random, lesser-known titles we come across when digging for books like… The Stray Shopping Carts of Eastern North America, Julian Montague, for example.

Demand

It’s also true that popular and well-known books like To Kill A Mockingbird are in much higher demand than a relatively unknown title or author in regards to our products.

So to paraphrase:

Low Supply + High Demand = Higher Price

High Supply + Low Demand = Lower Price

We understand how you may feel.  At first glance, repurposing lovely old used books into home goods may seem offensive to some, but the truth is we’re actually trying to save some of the hundreds of millions of books discarded annually from being destroyed or recycled into… not books.

Rest assured that each and every book we come across is assessed for economic as well as historical significance.  In other words, we don’t just repurpose any old book on the shelf, especially if it’s the 1st edition of a famous book by a notable author.

We’ve done extensive research into the costs/benefits of repurposing vs recycling books and we’d love to share our findings with you!  Please click here to read more.

Oh no! Don’t worry, 9 out of 10 times it’s often a quick fix!  Below are a few common hiccups & solutions to check out.

Hour Hand is Loose!
No problem. The hour hand is attached to the book via compression fit. Simply line all the hands up at 12 o’clock the place both of your thumb(nails) over the part of the hour hand that is on both the left and right sides of the protruding clock mount and wiggle the hour hand down as far as it can go.  Should be good to go after that!

It’s a common issue that occurs if it gets bumped too hard in transit or if you do something silly like try to set the time with the hour hand instead of the minute hand.  Please check out the “How does my Book Clock work?” tab on our  FAQ page for more information.

My Clock Hands are Bent!
Oops! No sweat. You can gently bend them back until they’re straight. Once straight again, give the minute hand and the “sweep” (seconds hand) a good rotation or two to make sure they can move freely and don’t bump into each other.
Pro tip: If the hand is rounded or curved, pinch the hand at the base and gently pull outward till it’s straight.

My Clock Hands are stuck on each other!
Oops again!  Check out the “Bent” tip above.  Most likely they just need a tiny bit of straightening out.
